About Us

Hi, I'm Suraj Jha, the home cook behind AsianKitchenTable.

Asian cooking isn’t one cuisine. It’s a dozen different traditions, each with its own rhythm, ingredients, and stories behind every dish. AsianKitchenTable started as a simple idea: bring the recipes of Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia to one table, tested and explained the way home cooks actually need them.

What you'll find here

Every recipe on this site is broken down step by step, with ingredient substitutions for when you can't find something at your local store, and notes on technique so a dish doesn't just taste right, it comes out right.

Whether you're making your first bowl of tonkotsu ramen, learning how to balance fish sauce and lime in a Vietnamese nuoc cham, or figuring out what gochujang actually does in a stew, this site is built to make Asian cooking approachable without losing what makes it authentic.

Why these six cuisines

Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, and Malaysian food share more than geography. They share a philosophy: balance of flavor, respect for ingredients, and food as something you share, not just eat.

Each cuisine gets its own space here, so you can go deep into one tradition or explore how they connect.

Who writes here

AsianKitchenTable isn’t written by me alone — each cuisine has its own writer, a home cook writing from where that food actually comes from. Meet the whole team on the Our Writers page.
